Accounts Assistant

Overview of role:



We are recruiting for an experienced Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper for a large logistics company based in Wicklow.

This role will support the finance team by ensuring the timely and accurate execution of all finance related tasks. Our client is offering a salary of €35k to €38k depending on experience, and hybrid working (2 days working from home).


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Process all invoices efficiently
  • Issue all monthly customer statements
  • Credit control / Maintaining debtor ledgers
  • Maintaining creditor ledgers and verifying all delivery costs to quotes, purchase invoices to purchase orders
  • Maintaining databases of customer information, credit limit checks and sales rep changes
  • Company credit card maintenance
  • Maintain the credit insurance system in line with Customer limits
  • Reconciling stock reports
  • Prepare Irish, United Kingdom and Netherlands VAT returns for submission
  • Monthly and weekly reporting of turnover with margin analysis
  • Take ownership off all aspects of the account administration
  • Communicate with both the sales and purchasing team
  • Liaise with the operations team regarding all aspects of finance




In order to qualify for this position, you must have the following:

  • At least 5 years’ experience either in similar role covering 90% of the above duties
  • A strong ability to organise workload, manage competing priorities and multi-task
  • A collaborative work style, supporting colleagues in the team and across the wider business
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in using MS suite, in particular Microsoft Office; Word, Excel and Outlook
  • An ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of work


Desirable Skills:

  • Accounting Technician qualification or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Vies, Intrastat and Triangulation
  • Experience with ERP systems and Sage 200, or similar
  • Familiarity with supply chain management.


On Offer:

  • Hours of work – 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, finish 4pm on Friday
  • Hybrid working – 2 days from home
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Salary of €35K to €38K depending on experience
